Antler Antics

A Red Squirrel gnawing away at what looks to be a Fallow Deer's antler. I assume it must be a great source of minerals to keep him fit and healthy and give him that beautiful shiny coat.

I have heard small animals devour antlers for the minerals which is why is so hard to find intact antlers. Love the color and detail in this image, great capture, PattiSmile
