Tales from the River Bank

By SteveMoulding
The Water Vole population has declined rapidly, mainly due to the presence of Mink which escaped from fur farms in the 1950's. The Water Vole is a harmless animal that lives alongside water, riverbanks and ponds. The male will usually stay there all it's life although the female may move elsewhere. It burrows into the riverbank, making a nest entrance above the waterline or in this case using a convieniently placed pipe. These are cute and adorable animals and are quite often mistaken for Rats. Hence, in The Wind and the Willows, Ratty is actually a Vole.
Many thanks for all your votes and comments. They are very much appreciated. I hope you like these too.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Nice Steve, focus is spot on too unlike my effort from that day. I think I prefer the 2 shot, it looks better lit to be and the eye is more defined.

Beautifully captured! They are really sweet aren't they. My partner lives on a canal boat in the Midlands and the amount of damage the mink do is quite shocking, they just kill everything they manage to catch/
