Gloucester Quays

Gloucester QuaysJust goes to show how people's tastes vary... because I really like this image. For me, the processing enhances the textures and lines of the building. I also like the resulting surreal quality.
There are a couple of overly bright areas at left and right of the image which tend to draw my eye slightly from the main subject, but otherwise there's nothing I would want to see changed.

Black Cat

Black CatNicely processed image.
However, what I noticed first was... the number plate is blank. I realise why the letters/numbers have been removed, but it had me focus on the number plate instead of the image itself.
As you have asked what we think... I would like to suggest either 'photoshop' some lettering in, or clone the number plate out completely.
Of course, this is only my opinion Smile Cheers -- Steve

Quote: I think the thing I'm having most difficulty with is knowing how much to sharpen things - this is the sharpest of the various versions I made of this capture (and I like it!), so any comments on that would be appreciated.

Personally, if I'm going for a really sharp look, I play around with the sharpness settings until it looks oversharpened then back off slightly.
I'd say what you have done is about right for the size and subject in this image.
Cheers -- Steve.

Saving lives

Saving livesComposition's good, and gets my vote for that.
(Just wondering if the orange is a bit too colourful? Or maybe give the rest of the image a complimentry colour/tint? Hope you don't mind my critique!)
Cheers -- Steve.

Yarra at night

Yarra at nightMany years since I last saw the Yarra!
This is a nice photo... only comment I'd make is it would be nice if image extended downwards a bit more to show some more of those wonderful reflections.
