Excellent shot, I would prefer a bit more space under the chin, the crop is a bit tight, but great detail.

Superb, you can just see the character and hardship that has been endured by her. What photography is all about. The amount of sharpening is just right!

Thanks all for comments. It was taken in Cusco, the town where you catch the train to Machu Picchu (and where John Peel died last month). This woman was a beggar on the street - I paid her 1 sol (about 20p) to be photographed, she seemed quite happy with this deal!

Steve, this portrait is excellent. It's not just that you have recorded the detail and texture of of her face so well but, in her gaze and expression, you have captured something deeper.
