Most normal togs use old tree stumps and lichen covered rocks as foreground interest ..... you use penguins. Lol, smart arse.

A lovely shot though.

This could have been an ok image. I think the only reason it got picked for any type of award is the subject though. Simply because its outside of the experience of many people. The shot itself is average and made less than perfect by the slightly heavy use of the ND grad on the sky. Either that or a blended exposure which has resulted in the sky being rather murky.

I'd reprocess the image if I were you and you may come away with a better shot. To have a sky that dark when there's so much light being reflected off all that ice is just wrong.
