If its shot through glass its not too bad. Glass is always a challenge.

The important area to get sharp is the eye, and its the area behind thats sharp and focused. So its possible you were too close to focus on the eye, or, you have to figure out how to selectively focus with the camera. It seems that the area with the highest contrast was detected and focused on whatever mode you used. So a little reading on focus modes will help you out.

A quick mod uploaded with the ey sharper, but its still not sharp enough.

It does need to be rather sharper overall and the light level is obviously very low. There is no EXIF but I suspect a wide aperture, even on a compact and focus on the wrong spot. There is also a strong green cast, probably due to flourescent light.

You both are off a bit as this was not shot behind glass , rather creeping up as close as possible. As far as the background, it's not flourescent light, but foliage that has become blurry in the background due to focusing on the subject. But thanks just the same.

The fact remains that there are technical issues that both Willie and I were trying to guess at. There is a colour cast, maybe from green light bounced from the foliage, but it is there.
