Years back we were living in Central Otago, NZ, up on a range of bare, rugged hills in an ex-sanitorium. I raced up onto the roof of our house to clean the chimney before it got too dark, and noticed the lovely light show going on in the winter burn-off smoke on the plains below, and the surrounding mountains around Ranfurly. The black sky leaned down on us and left a window to look through. I raced back down to get my new little digital camera, a point-and-shoot thingy, and managed to get a few shots before it was too dark to give the chimney cap a few good belts.
