Hello Shiela, a nice bird shot in a beautiful setting...It would have had greater strength had you made more of the reflection in the water below but not a bad exposure.

The other piece of advice Sheila is like yesterday...viewpoint. Maybe it wasn't possible in this situation but shots of animals or kids for that matter are always more interesting with the camera at their eye level....

keep it up. today's shot is a big improvement..!!

Nice picture. But what I want to ask is, can you tell me what the word "Stompie" means. In Afrikaans it is a small piece of wood.

Nice shot, but there is a lot more to this shot if you desire to make it better. Spot on! Click!!!

1. Increase the highlights on this shot 100%
2. Decrease output levels slightly
3. Increase saturation slightly
4. Use the hand sharpen tool, set to 25%, dab the feathers.

Do these things I just mentioned and you will be shocked at the differance in your shot.

Other that what Greg mentions, it looks good, as is his advice!

I wrote Greg's advice down for myself.
About the word "Stompie" in Afrikaans.
1. Small piece of fire wood
2. Cigarette butt
3. Amputated arm or leg
4. Nickname for a very short person
Thought I'd share this useless information with you.

Thank you all for the helpful advice and comments, very much appreciated, and I will certainly follow Greg's tips and post the result.
Georg - my nickname is kind of appropriate then as my husband and I have a firewood business!!!
