Feeding time

By strawman
Taken in a local water park this is a pair of Grebe's (Great Crested I think) feeding their young. It was taken in the evening after 8pm, so the water was calm but light levels falling fast, so its lens wide open, ISO800 and 1/125.

the adult with the youngster was swimming back and forth beneath some trees, and as the other returned with a fish I managed to get a couple of shots while they were between branches. The camera was on a tripod to try and improve the capture.

Just an attempt to improve my photography of bids in the wild, any thoughts?

What a great thing to see &to catch it on camera too. Beautiful feather detail in the low light.

Thanks for the comments. I spotted them at lunch time yesterday, but the mid-day light had too much contrast so I though I would go back this evening but it was a bit late, thought the light was low and even.

I spent much of the time waiting for them to swim to a point where I had view of them.

Like the addition of the out of focus foliage along the top, these can be funny little things to watch.

Like the intimacy on this one. Almost feel privileged to be there.
