Golden Falls

By strawman
A photo taken during a trip to the Brecon's. Views and comments are welcomed, positive or not. Does it work?

This was taken using a long exposure and a poloriser to kill off reflections from the water. The bright area at the top was caused by sunlight being reflected off a sandstone rock while the rest of the stream was in shade.

works for me ---maybe a hint to where the golden colour was coming from.

Thanks for your thoughts. there was a rock in strong sun light but it was very hard to get it in the frame without it burning out. I will have a look again into whether I could include some of it.

i like the wetness of the whole scene and the colours of the rocks, but the overall quality isn't there, can't quite put my finger on it but maybe it's noise or lack of sharpness?

I love the foreground, but it feels a bit cut-off height wise. Perhaps that is because I can see that strong gold highlight.

It does look a little 'closed in'. Letterbox formats do work, and I think would work here, but the bright highlight is the problem, especially as it's warm in colour and so draws the eye.

I think it is a fine piece of work but for me personally the warm bright glow is a eye puller from the main center of interest (the waterfall and rocks).

Perhaps a selection from the opposite side and flipped and blended in to hide it would help, if this is not ethically wrong for you..just a suggestion.

i have to agree with crafty here, if this is a crop then maybe the inclusion of the light source would help?

Wow! Color and speed just couldn't be better. What a spectacular shot!
