Beach Patrol

By studioline
This was taken during daylight hours at Portobello beach. The sun had gone and we were left with a grey featureless sky. Not one to waste the day, we decided to shoot anyway and work on what we got.
I have opted for an edgy look with implied menace. I made him look slightly injured to emphasise the violent element.

The blue cast is deliberate and so is the burned out aspect. My thoughts are that is adds more drama to the photograph. I know that there is a movement away from burning out skies but I do think it is acceptable to do so as it indicates a very powerful light source. If you were to try looking at the sun then you would see that this burnt out aspect really does exist but has to be when the sun is passing over clouds. Wouldn't recommend it though.
Thanks for the comments but would be interesting to think what other people think this. Any thoughs. I think clicknimage has got a good point however when it is meant and adds drama, is it still valid.
