Love Story

By Sue_R
Just had to photograph this flower in our garden yesterday as it was the first bloom to open on a pot full of Oriental lilies, called Love Story. I was amazed at just how big the flowers are on this one.

Can't choose a favourite between the original landscape format image at V2 and the square crop so, once again, I'll be interested to hear which you prefer Smile

Thanks to all those of you who have voted and commented on my recent uploads. It really is much appreciated.

Wow, this is gorgeous, Sue, you're definitely getting good at these flower images! The detail is superb, especially viewed large. Definitely has to be the square and tighter crop for me.

As much as I like the open space on the right of V2, I think it was a good choice to lead with the square crop Sue. A lovely Lily, and I bet it has a wonderful scent to it too. It'll look amazing when all those buds come into bloom too, and i'm sure we havn't seen the last of 'Love Story' Smile

John, Phew! I uploaded them the other way around the first time then changed my mind when I saw them on here as I like V2 for the same reason as you, but thought the flower displayed so much better in the square crop.

Just measured the flower and it's about 9" across. Don't think I really needed a macro lens for this one Smile

Yep! And I measured it myself so you can be sure it's an accurate measurement Smile

Has to be V1, though V2 is very pretty too. The colours and light are beautiful as are the details. The square crop allows the eye to view all this with ease. I have some of these just beginning to flower too. Gorgeous!

Such a beautiful flower - like V2 but the square crop works the most for me here Sue.

one of my favourite flowers, I have the 'Star Gazer' in a pot and this year they are nearly 6'2" tall, and what a glorious smell...So wonderfully captured both but for me it is V2

A beautiful lily captured in situ, never an easy task, but done to perfection here. I like the original very much but feel the crop to V 1 does carry greater impact, the image not needing the extra space to breathe as it were. I think your choice of order is spot on IMHO.
