Woodside View

By Suehh
This is just to say "Hi"Grin
Steven and I are back from a few days away in Cheshire. And whilst there, we took a trip across the Mersey to Liverpool - it seems amazing that I have never been to that wonderful city before. And I was entranced. That is one helleva city you Liverpudlian's inhabit - I have to admit to being transfixed by the wonder of the old and the new mix, the life and soul, the sheer vibrancy, the gorgeous people - I just loved it and only wish I had had more time. This shot is from Woodside Ferry Terminal. The only downside was that when returning home, in the dark on the ferry, we hadn't realised there was more than one ferry stop (as there hadn't been in the morning!) and we disembarked at the wrong terminal - (stop laughing!) and had a long, lonely, walk in the dark to find Woodside - okay it is not far really, but it seemed a long way knowing that the parking ticket had run out on the car, etc., etc. But all was well - and we really enjoyed our meal that evening after the extra long walk.Grin

I like the composition -- especially the inclusion of the foreground iron work.
Liverpool is one of those cities that holds some sort of mystical place in the minds of people my age because of the Beatles connection.
Glad to hear that it is worth visiting.

Your ferry story reminds me of getting on a ferry we thought was headed for the island of Murano, Italy. When we were headed out to sea we realized we were actually going to Burano. So -- we got off at the next stop, thinking we were on the mainland -- only to find that we were on some other island that no tourists ever visit. So -- we waited on the dock, not knowing if we would have to eventually explore the island, asking some native to put us up for the night.
After a long wait on a lonely dock, the ferry returned and we road it back to Venice. All's well . . .

You better forget any new career about being a tour operator Sue.
If anyone asked you for the ferry to Larne, you would send them to the Island of Farne !!
And I bet you never had any intentions of going to Liverpool at all.
I bet Steve wanted to go to Hartlepool instead !!
Nice to see you back, and perhaps you are safer staying at home.
But don't go out on dark nights.
You would never find your way back home again !!

Welcome "home"!!! I'm pleased you had a lovely time, I love this part of the country; as you probably remember we went to Chester in August and also visited Liverpool (upload of the Liver Building somewhere in my portfolio!). Liverpool is a fascinating city. Did you also get time to visit Chester Zoo?

Anyway, I digress! Back to your photograph - superbly composed and captured Sue, a really lovely image!

Ah...thats my home town.....two cathedrals, nude statues and a very unusual accent, loved it, saw the Beetles when they were very young, got the bus home with George,.......well he was on the bus.......days to remember.....but now I am up here in the North East which I love too. Newcastle is fab and you can walk across the river Wink.

Mornin' all - and thank you for your great comments.

Carol - no, we didn't do the zoo - to be honest, although I love animal images I am not a zoo person really and only visit once in a blue moon - besides, there are folks who take much better animal captures than me - so I will for the most part leave it to you and those othersWink

Mavis, what a lovely memory - George on the bus! That conjures up an image.

Sounds like you had a good adventure, Sue! Smile It has changed quite a bit over the years - I remember going there back in the 70s and you could go up the tower with the circular top. The next time I went, it had become Radio City, and was surrounded by a shopping centre!
A fine capture, here, and timed just right to get that boat in the right place - and a red one, too! Wink

I don't know Liverpool at all, Sue, never been there, but couldn't mistake this setting with the Royal Liver Building ruling the skyline! Great capture, especially with that jaunty little red boat. Still laughing at your little story.... sorry.... GrinGrinGrin
