Bike Bridges

By Superficial
A picture from a ride at Mabie - one of the 7 Stanes in SW Scotland. Well worth a visit if you're into mountain biking.

Though I'd upload this as a critique - What do people think of the sky? I can never work out if it looks too unnatural.

I'm no expert (far from it) but the sky looks fine to me! Have you done something to it? If it's from another photo it's perfect, because the biker and his surroundings look to be overcast.

Good shot & if you've added the sky, it looks fine at this size. Like the way the path zig zags into the shot, with the rider to add a sense of scale. Also the different horizontal zones, path, trees, hills & sky work well.
Don't know if you took any more shots on the day, but a low angle shot of the rider coming down the path would look good as well.

Yeah I took loads, and I have plenty of other more "action" shots (from where the path gets much narrower!), but I wondered what people thought of this particular one.

The day was incredibly overcast and the sky was almost 100% white with no texture at all. So yeah, it was added from another photo. I just find it really hard to know if looks natural because I know it isn't.

Thanks for the comments anyway. Any more?

It's anice dynamic shot, well balanced comp. I wonder if a mirror flip might make it lookeven more dynamic by making the action go left to right - just a thought...
As for the sky I wouldn't have noticed myself, so if you're going to do it you've made a good job of it.

I'd siggest a little boost in contrast and poosibly saturation also - but all in all a great shot and good post-work

It never even crossed my mind to flip it, but you're quite right, it does look nicer. You have to watch out though with bikes as it can be obvious as the drivetrain (gears) is on the wrong side when you flip it (And bike geeks like me would notice that straight away!), although you'd be doing well to notice in this picture at that size!
