Gilding the Lily ...

By sut68
Earlier on at Heswall on Saturday evening, the sun kept teasing and coming out from behind the dense cloud for a few seconds, every now and again casting some subtle rays and spreading a warm glow on the landscape.

This is the [I assume] defunct waste pipe that flows into the channel here from the nearby sewage plant, hence the title ... a mixture of the apparent golden light and also a reference to the 70's & 80's children's TV presenter Christopher Lillicrap Smile

Anyway, with this light I couldn't resist bagging a few here too ... hope you don't mind Grin

Cheers for dropping by,
Paul

Lovely sky you got there mate.
See those birds don't have any trouble moving across the mud, hence the criss cross of footprints!!
Mind you, they aren't 6' 4" and weigh.............. (I'll go no further!)

Beautifully shot, Paul.

I'm not sure that the red buoy (?) is helping, however.
It seems to me to pull the eye away from what is, clearly, a carefully thought out composition.
Destaurating it or cloning it out would be my perferred solution.
No doubt, you'll disagree, and that the shot is actually all about the red buoy! Smile Smile Wink

Cheers

Great lead-in to the image Paul, makes for a very dramatic comp. Must admit the red bouy is a distraction to my eye and I am much to precious about my screen to put a finger on it ( sad I know)

Another superb image, although I agree with the comments about the red bouy (I would add, though, that I hadn't actually seen it until I read the comments above - it's such a strong composition that the eye is pulled away from it).

This is great as it is - I don't think the buoy is critical because - as Fraser said - the lines of the pipe and the channel draw the eye away from it...

Version 2 - absolutely priceless! Wink
sut68 17 2.0k 77 England

I can see what they mean Cathy, but I do tend to agree with Fraser [and yourself] that the lead-ins draw the eye to the structure and sun's rays ... I don't suppose it wouldn't hurt to remove it though Smile

Cheers m'dear Grin
