Wow !! I love this. And congrats on an editor's award!

Such wonderful movement in this and the repeating patterns of the body shapes .. colours are just right too.

Thanks Suzie, was surprised by the ed award as I felt I have submitted better shots in my portfolio. Still, this is one I liked or it wouldn't be here, so can't complain...

I particularly liked the movement too, just seemed to add that little extra dynamism to it.

The normal temptation when photographing flying birds is to get them sharp by using a fast shutter speed. Here the opposite has been achieved and blurred photos often look terrible. This one I think is heavenly. I really like the shapes, formation, perfect framing and superb colour. Minimalist but wonderful.

Thanks Pete. Praise indeed - now I understand why the EC accolade.

Must confess I never tried to get the birds sharp, as this wouldn't convey the speed of the racing pidgeons. However I maybe wish that there was some cloud definition around that day [rather than the grey sky] so you could also get the sense of panning with them and therefore heighten the effect of speed.

Very creative and nice toned colours too. Seems you spend alot of time on Ainsdale beach - next to me, I will be off there tonight if the weather holds up
