Frothy Perch ...

By sut68
Had a great [though tiring] weekend, Rich came over to stay at ours for the weekend, so the full compliment of the 'Team' headed out to a variety of locations - more of that to come I'm sure.

We were first on the scene of a bad motorway accident at about 4.35am Saturday ... more of that later though.

This was taken at about 11.05am yesterday at Perch Rock, New Brighton, whilst trying out my early Birthday present from Fran [thanks love x], the Lee BIG Stopper 10 stop filter ... pretty impressive results so far.

Results are a fraction on the blue side, but I can live with that and the vignetting is controllable too. Will be experimenting some more soon, but no light ingress at all so no flaring caused by dust particles or moisture ... happy days Smile

Right, better get down to some work. Will catch up whenever I can throughout the day. Cheers for dropping by.

EDIT: 30 secs @ f11, ISO 100 + 2 stop Hard ND Grad + BIG Stopper

Paul

Thanks guys, got a few from here but realistically only a couple of decent ones as it was quite breezy and with the long exposure the camera was exposed to some considerable buffeting which ruined a few.

Stunning image Paul. Thanks for the feedback on the Lee Big Ten stopper, I got one at focus on imaging but as yet havent been out to give it a test. Was a tad worried that it might give one almighty magenta cast, but if its blue then I think I'll be able to live with that.

Liking this one bud, congrats on the award.
Is there much difference compared to the B+W filter?

Ed..
sut68 16 2.0k 76 England
15 Mar 2010 5:20PM
The B+W one is much warmer Ed and obviously has all the palava of unscrewing it, focusing, screwing it back on etc. etc. ... none of that with the Lee one. Might carry a bit more vignetting than the B+W too, but can't remember now ... will have to look through my archives to the ones I took with it.

You'll enjoy it Chant, great fun ... chews through batteries too Wink

This has been adjusted a little Jim, but decided to leave the blue'er cast as you say, it just seemed to suit the shot ... not seen any from you yet Grin

Thanks everyone for your time and comments, have a superb evening.

Cheers Dougie, it's actually a fairly unattractive manhole cover [ see here ], but when it mixes with water and light it does look good.

Oyyy!!!! I am using Hitech one!!!
Actually I don't use the 10 stopper much, way too long exposure for me. I would rather use 6 stopper. Hence, no plan in getting this Lee Big Stopper yet.

Fair enough, it's not for everyone, but it is great fun throughout the middle of the day with the harsh light that you tend to get then.

Cheers all, thought this one had run its course ... glad to see I was wrong Smile
