Looking Up ...

By sut68
Continuing on with my Lichfield Cathedral shots. There's something about people in these types of shots that I just like, I think if you catch them just right they can add another dimension to them.

This bloke was oblivious to me with my tripod at first and was ambling around looking at the details in here. When he got a bit nearer, he apologised for getting in my shot ... he then asked me if I was waiting for the light and I told him no, it was the odd person I was after ... little did he know he'd made it for me Wink

Again, not to everyone's tastes ... but cheers for looking,
Paul

My type of shot Paul. I just love photographing in these places.

Comp and crop very pleasing, and as you say, the Brummie bloke makes it.

Best of the bunch IMO Paul, very impressive, especially when viewed large. The detail and light is excellent and that character adds the icing.

Thius guy does add to the picture but I suspect due to the high quality of the architecture it would have been excellent without him.Fine work.

WOW, just look at that light and the shadows it has cast on that wonderful floor.

Yes, the person is a great help in the image and its good to see someone appreciating these wonderful buildings.

But the windows, the way you have composed it, the light and the tones have also played a part in this.

Superb and Im really enjoying looking at this series.

would have been a nice shot without the guy, but he lifts it. Not just the burst of colour, but his upwards gaze seems apt for a cathedral. That is what the architecture was intended to make us do.

Another cracker Paul, and the bloke is a needed and well used addition I think.

The architecture stands up on its own when you are in these places, but needs a suitable focal point for photos to work I feel.

Is it just a case of paying your money for a photo permit and away you go tripod and all?

Thanks

Neil
sut68 18 2.0k 77 England
2 May 2008 2:30PM
Yup, a whole pound Neil for the permit and you're pretty much unlimited to what/where you can shoot ... one of the reasons I like it so Wink

Do I hear the sound of a family outing coming on??? Wink

Might have to be a different cathedral though so the copying is not quite so blatant! I have to get some use out of that Photmatix software after all.
