Photography needn't only be about breathtaking landscapes. It can be about making the very smallest things matter: the curl in a leaf, the beauty in a meandering line, sunlight glancing through a window, or the look in a quiet eye ..

  • Ice Pond

It could be so many things - a small town seen from high up, reeds in ice, a futuristic city - love it! Have a GE.

  • Demonise Me?

Good to see you developing this series Smile Excellent

  • BURNING COLD...

You don't get the full impact until you open it up - the detail in the trees is lovely to see and that fire in the sky makes the image look gilded. Beautiful. Have a GE Smile

  • Approaching Silence

This is one of those images that stays with you for ages. You keep thinking about it and have to come back. There is such stillness and peace in this shot and I just love it. Have a GE.

Speechless. Fantastic work and very unsettling! Nice effect with the painting in - I like visual games. Have a GE on me Smile

  • Untitled

Powerful piece of historical reporting. It's stark and grainy, forbidding. So many layers of interpretation - I really do admire this one. Have a GE.

LOL she sure can belt out those top notes, or so it looks.

  • Seat by the window.

This does it for me in spadefuls. The mono works beautifully, emphasising a sense of isolation, the shadows and height of the room just add to that. The plants - for me they work fine and add some context, and push her further into the background. My meanings will be different to other people's and it's what I get from the photo, so have a GE on me Smile

  • Mask

I think the hand works well. It's the comparison of the natural skin against the mask people put on to face the world - I'd leave as is. Smile

I came back to this after voting because it haunted me. Something so magical and full of depth here. I love it. I was torn because of that bit of rope top right getting in my eye's way, but in the end I just adored this and the rope didn't matter. It might bother others, I don't know, but I don't care. Have a GE on me. Smile

Thanks for taking the time to give the background information. Very illuminating and adds so much to the image - although the image itself is very powerful.

I love this. Stunning lighting and comp - the only thing that lets it down is that bit of stuff on the right hand bottom edge .. !

  • First Light

That is some image. Lovely exposure and beautiful contrast beween warm and cold - or at least the idea of it even if it is minus frozen to death at the top there. Have a GE Smile

  • Miniature Disaster

Beautiful comp and mono is perfect for this. Simple and effective and i think it deserves a GE - pretty stunning in my view. Smile

  • End Of The Line

Personally I like the desatting - it adds to the image rather than being a cliche - I think techniques like this can work if they're used judiciously. The yellow and black add to the sense of a warning which is why I think it works. I like the composition and the perspective too. Have a GE on me Smile

  • Haiku 4357

As spare and yet as full as a haiku - I love this. Simple and beautiful. Have a GE Smile

  • MotorPower

Wow. I don't care if bits are missing off the bikes - it doesn't matter a bit because this does it for me in spades. Full on, full of noise, full of bikes, and I'm getting out of the way smartish. Have a GE!

  • limbless

Beautiful image and so dramatic. It's sensual without being tacky and is so elegant and graceful as well as being a completely different type of background - great creative imagination. Have a GE Smile

  • New Born

What I love about this is the complementary colouring and the position of the butterfly - as though it's about to take off. A beautiful vibrant image and I love the comp. Have a GE Smile

  • Before the wedding

Ya know I love street photography like this. It says so much and records so much and I love how you've given it some vignetting. The whole things works so well - hope the bride straightened her tiara before making it down the aisle!! Have a GE on me - fab work.

  • Robin

I think this is a cracking image. You seem to have caught a robin's personality too, which sets it apart from an ordinary robin shot. Beautifully focused with a nicely blurred background, and a real winner. Have a GE on me Smile
