Common wall lizard basking on French sun.............

By SvetAriadne
There were 2 of them.....basking on the afternoon sun....when I approached them closer, one lizard moved away & I could see its head only....however......the other one you see on the photo came closer to the camera & bravely watched me ....I assumed it was the male who acted protectively of his smaller female .....Unfortunately I cannot share the other photo at the same time...where you could see both of them.......
Happy 2015 to all Grin

Again, this is pretty much perfect as it is.

Focus is just where it should be.

Exposure's right.

Composition includes all of the tail and the shadow, which is (for me, anyway) necessary.

Nothing else, really. In the main gallery, I'd definitely vote for it!

A beautiful capture, Svetlana, and the stance of the lizard obviously influenced your format.
The head is particularly sharp, so well done for that.

However, I'd like to have seen a bit more space at the top, and also possibly at the bottom (though not absolutely necessary), as your subject is looking a little cramped/tight in the frame.
It's head is raised, suggesting an upward gaze (though that might not be the case in reality), so that bit of space at the top would be for it to "look into", and I have done this in my modification.

The head is nicely on a thirds line on the horizontal, and this added canvas at the top also places it on a thirds line on the vertical.
Maybe you cropped this from the original. If so, you could consider a crop that leaves a bit more space top and bottom.

I also made the blacks blacker, deepened the shadows, increased highlights, added a touch of saturation, and sharpened.

Pamela.

Nice image, well cropped. Leave that logo off. Not needed in this section and a real distraction. I could clone it off in seconds.
