Still Life"for a change"

By NDODS
Good day to you all.

Thank you all for taking the time out to view, comment and vote on yesterdays upload. It was great to read the various comments and the odd witticism.

Todays upload consists of two Still Life images, and a monochrome variant of each. The focusing is very soft allowing me to try a recreated a dreamy lighting effect, not quite sure if it has worked so I would value your opinions.

I hope that you all have a great day, For me it is all about rest 'n recuperation after a horrendous bought of seizures during the night.

Regards as always Nathan GrinGrinGrin

V3 also for me Nathan, I think if you had used spot metering on the flame it would not be burnt out, then bring back the dark areas in Photoshop to your liking.

I wonder If we should have included all of the apples in V3 and the whole of the plate in V1or does it not matter a damn after all it doesn't spoil our enjoyment of the image. Do some of us just talk too much garbage?
really good my friend but keep off that cider,it may cause camera shake.

Hi, Nathan, four very good variants, v1 for me, I don`t think the black and white versions work very well, you are immediately drawn to the burnt out flames of the lamp, which takes your eyes away from a very good composition. The coloured version you are also drawn to the flame of the lamp but it enhances the image tremendously. With regard to the softer focus effect, imo I think you should perhaps have gone for a more aged look, or combined soft focus into the processing technique. As always a very well thought out image.
Well done my friend.

I agree with some of the others that v1 works best. Your other color version is cropped too tight and I feel the b/w versions are a bit muddy..not enough contrast or range grey scale tones between white and blacks. Very nice composition and warm light that is nicely balance. Bravo.

The warm light on the apples and the no label home brew work
perfectly with the lantern. Modern medical craft has replaced the
clouded lens in my left eye with a clear plastic one. The eye
is now eagle like. I hope modern medicine can help you too. TG
