I hope you won't mind me giving you a suggestion.

If your original has more space at the bottom, I would suggest leaving it there, not cropping it off.
I find this difficult to explain, but will try.
If you give space as if you had the whole bird in the frame, then a bit more beneath it, it looks better.
It's all in the mind, the way the viewer sees it.
Your bird is sitting right on the frame edge here and although I appreciate that your angle prevented the inclusion of its feet, the tight crop doesn't give the impression of it being high up, whereas more space at the bottom would do that. Here it looks more like it's "squatting down".
