Thank you everyone for taking the time to give me feedback on my Glencoe image I appreciate your time and thoughts. Delighted to have been awarded Photo of the week and Editors Choice!

Ed Rhodes you make a valid point regarding the banding so I have uploaded a version without this can't seem to manage the versions so that this is the front image though. I do not however see the noise you are referring to but I appreciate your critique - thank you.

Onwards and upwards - you're only as good as your last photo!

Thank you for your feedback it has been very useful. Tony’s style is intriguing to me and I agree that it doesn’t lend itself to landscape but more to architecture. Initially i was unsure of the style because hdr is not something I normally like but he manages to create an image which looks 3 dimensional and really draws you in. Most of his images contain 25 exposures using light painting which is why they have such depth of colour and tone.

Admittedly I was experimenting with hdr post processing on an old photo that compositionally doesn’t work but it has the diversity of architecture and glass reflections that I wanted to draw out. I opted for the cool tones because of the amount of modern architecture in the image.

Given your thoughts it is something I will continue to explore and I like the modifications suggested but I think the cool tones convey the industrial cityscape I was after.

Yet again I find this forum super responsive offering great feedback and creative ideas to help further my photography.
Thank you for taking the time to request for a critique!!!

Thank you Pamela for you detailed feedback on my image. As you can tell I was out of my comfort zone with the flowers insitu and your thoughts on what was not working and how to remedy this are spot on - I really appreciate your honest feedback. I learned a lot and put it into practice and have uploaded some better (I hope) shots.

Thank you Ivor and Capto for your times modifying my image what you have done has helped me reframe things in my mind and focus my mind on my focusing!!!

Thank you Moira for your insights into shooting wild flowers, yes they are messy and yes I get leg cramp, there's great comfort in knowing I am not the only one! Some say I am a control freak so perhaps that's why I am so out of my comfort zone out in the field but I so want to get better and your feedback I have taken forward.

    Thanks guys!!!

  • Magnolia reworked

A fabulous rework Fiona. Softening the texture on the petals and blending the whites tones really gives the carpel centre stage. Wonderful work!!

  • Double Tulip

I'm only so glad I am able to reciprocate the feedback Fiona!

A fabulous image in BNW and colour. I sometimes struggle with solo tulip images because of the intensity of their colour and their solid form. To be able to edit this in monochrome is a feat and it really draws you into detail and delicacy of the petals that is not apparent in colour. Very well executed!!

  • Owen's Spring Graden

Thank you flowerpower59 and dudley for the advice.

The edges that you can see Fiona are quite deliberate lol! I have applied a 'find edges' filter to define the paler petals and to add an artistic feel to the image. This is my first experiment with this technique and I tried to be very subtle but maybe it doesn't work. I recently bought a Wacom, don't know how I lived without it so much easier to work on fine details. Really appreciate your feedback!!!
