Vespula Vulgaris are my No.1 hate just now, not just because I was stung a few weeks ago, but they are an enormous pest in N.Z. as there are no natural predators here, but some have been introduced in the last few months, don't think that will make a difference for several years ye.
Top techie marks for the macro image, if I was there that would be a dead wasp.

Hi Nigel.

- Yes, they are difficult to love, especially where they don't belong. Apparently they are good pollinators, though, if that's any consolation.

I visited New Zealand in 2019 and loved everything about it. You can keep your sandflies, though. Wink

As a beekeeper wasps are not my natural friends, but I like the image. 👍

Unfortunately we've had a few nests of asian hornets over here in Guernsey the last couple of years, which as I'm sure you know, are a serious threat to our local bees.
