Last Stand

By Sylviwhalley
Many many thanks to CarolG, Brian65 and RonnieAG for the user awards for my last upload, I'm very grateful. These are not brilliant shots but I had to upload these images of two trees on our street, taken yesterday morning just before they were cut down by our local council to make room for more parking, needless to say I was very very angry, but unfortunately could do nothing about it! Whose decision it was I do not know. They will be sadly missed. The cold dull weather suited my mood.

Looks a great spot for sledging down! Wink Sad about the trees; near where I live there's a beautiful very large weeping willow set back on a grassy area - or at least there was, until recently when I went past, and all but the trunk and stubs of the larger branches had been cut off. It wouldn't have been so bad had they just trimmed it down.

What a great shame, cutting those trees down, Sylvia, they give character to a street. Bet it looks very bare now Sad Carol

It is sad to see such landmarks with which one is so familiar disappear in the name of progress or upgrading of 'facilities': the road will look bare without them.
Nice you have a record though of how things were.
And seeing your street with all that snow I am glad I don't have no negotiate it in the car......looks a tad skippy in such conditions.

Sad story. Remember, you cannot stand in the way of progress...

I think that I shall never see
a billboard lovely as a tree.
Perhaps, unless the billboards fall,
I'll never see a tree at all.

V5 is wonderful, too much snow and then some sun to help melt it all away, so sorry about the trees!
