Spring Waters Run Deep

By Sylviwhalley
Many thanks for previous votes and comments. This is a shot from a few years ago of The Strid a section of the river Wharfe near Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales. The river narrows and goes through this narrow channel in the rocks, lives have been lost as people who try to jump across, slip on the rocks, fall in and get sucked under the rocks and are unable to get out. The river was quite low when this was taken. The lead a crop of version1. Have a good day.

A lovely view to cheer a damp dreary day.

Two very scenic images Sylvia, great composition and lovely colours. I slightly prefer the version.

Stunning images Sylvia - beautiful light in the trees.
Sad that lives have been lost - we underestimate the power of water.
Are there any warning signs there?

I am only able to see the lead shot, the version not opening for me.
This has happened quite often on this site, I don't know why.
However, I really like the lead image, a nicely balanced shot and with the water frozen and not milky.

As soon as I looked at these two images I thought how much like the Strid at Bolton Abbey it was! It's many years since I was there - on looking back, 1988, on a Camera Club outing. It certainly does flow fast and deep, and as you say, many have come to grief here. Like both versions, hard to choose between the two 👍
