Serenity

Boy it's tough getting a decent photograph at this time of year. Thank god I have Photoshop to help hide my photographic inadequacies.

This is a shot of Wick Harbour (Wick on the Scottish Borders) taken on Saturday afternoon. I know it's not a particularly good shot, but it's so unusual to see the North Sea as calm as this!. The boat in the picture is picking up, and dropping off divers. I think it adds some perspective to the scene.

Fair bit of enhancement done in Photshop to make up for the very drab colours that prevail at this time of year. Would very much appreciate your critique, either good or bad.

What have you done, as at first glance this look natural. Nice one

Well, without seeing the original it's hard to say, as this looks a nice image.
seeing as you ask, tough, on closer inspection I can see a halo around the foreground rock, even at 500 px, and it's a pity the sky on the left is (almost) burnt out.

Blimey, not sure if I can remember all the PS adjustments, here goes:-

* Used the Adjust - Shadow/Highlight to bring some lightness to the nearest cliff on the right hand side. Was blacked out in the original

*Cropped a load of Sea from the bottom to follow the thirds rule with the horizon.

*Lassoo selected the Sky with a fringe of 50 pixels, then increased the contrast quite heavily, and added some redness (Hence the 'Halo' effect spotted by Keith)

* Finally increased the Red & Blue content, and tweaked up the saturation.

Think that was about it! - how did we manage before computers?

Seem to be in a minority but I like it.
