Small Buzzy thing

By Taff
I know it's a rubbish title - but I know naff all about flowers/weeds and even less about insects. I would love to say it's a Lesser spotted Peruvian throat warbling honey bee extracting late summer pollen from a hardy Herbaceous Alpine crested rice pudding plant. Alas this would be wrong - Hence, it's a small buzzy thing!

Equipment: -
Alpha 100 with possibly the worlds oldest and heaviest 400mm zoom.

Story: -
Went for a walk last Sunday along a section of the beautiful John Muir path just north of Dunbar in the Scottish borders. Gorgeous Sunshine and blue skies turned grey and grotty the moment we parked up and changed into our walking gear. As usual this meant landscape was off the question and Macro was the order of the day. I am to Macro photography, what Sir Douglas Bader was to kick boxing - hence this one was a pure fluke. (I did not staple the buzzy thing to the flower, honest M'lord)

Geeky photoshop stuff: -
Background looks false but isn't. A 400mm lens really blurs the background so no blurring required. Well ok, I did feather edge around the outside, cut and replaced with a much darker border to emphasize the buzzy thing. I also changed the colour balance by wacking up the magenta quite a few notches. (Thought it complimented the yellow of the Alpine thingey)

Please feel free to critique, but I'd prefer it if you heaped adoration and praise on me as I've got a bit of a bad back and it's corn fly season in the Scottish borders and the little buggers are biting me and Mrs Taf to bits at the moment - we've now got 'His' n 'hers' tubes of Germolene.

Love and light - Taf Smile
