Fringed Bleeding Heart

By taggart
Fringed Bleeding Heart
Dicentra eximia

This Bleeding Heart is native to the Appalachian Mountain region in North America-----found in woodlands, rocky ledges and forest floors, The flowers hang among fringed, ferny like leaves and are smaller and less showy that the Asian Bleeding Hearts. Their colors range from pink to a pale purple. In some areas they go by the unlikely name of Turkey Corn---

They grow happily over a stone wall in my garden--a share from my mother years ago----blooming now!
