Beautiful looking child, and from I know of the Amish folk, (very little) they seem to have such a simple, yet hard working life.......Great image Jenn.

A very 'different' portrait of childhood - as I understand it, the Amish way is to involve children in all aspects of farm work from a young age, I suspect that's serious dirt on her hands. Good PJ, I'm not so sure about the vignetting though, it detracts for me.

She's very sweet. Must say, doesn't look in the least like our shepherd's daughters when they were that age!! All the better for it too, I suspect. You captured a really sensitive and lovely portrait, Jenn.

The vignetting here helps to make a beautiful portrait just that little bit different and that's what the art of photography is all about.
Superb. Love her dirty hands so natural.

Nice treatment of this child portrait Jennnn, the vignetting enhances the detail - she certainly looks like an old soul! Glad you didn't do the obvious (sepia) - I'm sure it would work, but this is so much better.

Even at that age she is not afraid to get her hands dirty.... Nicely captured and presented Jenn, the dress looks home made and too big for her, maybe a 'hand me down' that she hasn't quite grown into yet.

With that look I feel she is not entirely happy with life or perhaps overcautious.

Grand shot.

This shot has so much going for it, as a document of rural Americana and as an esthetically beautiful work of art.
The straight on point of view with the subject dead center evokes an older, "unadorned" style of photography -- perfect for your subject here.
I love the hand-sewn dress with the big pocket.

Your treatment and edge effect are very appropriate to the subject as well.
This shot deserves at least one user award.

Nicely done, Jennn.
