The netty door

By mrswoolybill
As members in North East England will know, the netty is the outside toilet, in the back yard or on the back lane.
Which composition do you prefer?
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Nicely composed on both versions Moira, and great for Silly Sunday. Not sure which I prefer, but the comp' on V1 and the view point on V2, make them both worthy of a Vote.

Well they were a lot more common in some parts than in others. I suspect that Darras Hall has scarcely any... Wink
Cheers everyone, and a Very Silly Sunday to you.
V1 seems to be in the lead. I have b&w conversions which are very different in feel.

Both are brilliant observations Moira with version 1 just winning it for me.

Look forward to seeing the b/w ones at your convenience! Smile

Grin @ Carol. Love that. Smile

V1 for me Moira, but those boots don't look they've got feet in them. Perhaps the "user" has discovered the joys of inside toilets and has left them there for decoration. Smile

The Map location is the clue. Although this item has been added since the aerial photograph was taken...

A lovely observation Moira. For some reason I prefer V2, maybe because it's more dynamic and leads the eye.

We had one like that in the Blitz in London, every night was fire work night!, we had a toilet in ours, and squares of News paper on a bit of string!, this looks full of coal lol. I think there is a bit of leg pulling here lol. regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Now that would be a very tight fit!
V2 for its more dynamic angle.
V1 looks so solid and staid.....I can almost picture the gentleman sitting squarely on the seat.

I think that's why V1 is the lead.
Thanks again folks.

Not heard of netty before! I remember going to my dear old grannies when she had an outside loo - not somewhere to linger in this cold weather! Sad Two great Silly Sunday shots, Moira, and prefer the lower viewpoint of V1, so that's my fave Wink

The netty often doubled up as the coal hole, if I remember correctly, Moira. If that's Bill, he should be ashamed of the state of them there boots.Wink

If that's Bill he must have long long legs because the pan would be a long way back because of the inward opening door.

Love both thes images, Moira, especially v1, luv the inclusion of the green grass really adds balance to the image, i think that wc was also a coal hole by the amount of the black stuff visible, great pov and perspective.
Nice one.

Much more than the usual bog standard toilet images Moira, this one surely deserves a WC award from Pete. As for Carol's pun that is the lamest one i've ever heard in an age!Wink
