The milk round

By TanyaH
There's a tiny bit of vignetting round the edges of this, maybe caused by the long lens(?). I tried dodging, but it didn't do what I wanted it to, so I left it as it was. A straight scan, apart from correcting the scanning colour cast.

Great picture! The highlighted mist in the middle gives it a mysterious atmosphere, as if something weird is going on there, an alien craft just landed.

I like pictures that have a 'story', or that invite the viewer to make up a story like this one.

I love this Tanya. Where did you take it? It is also the sort of picture that you could make into mono and then tone...this may not actually add anything, it is so lovely!

'Milk Round' suggests an early morning shot?

Thank you all for your comments on this image.

It was taken in the hills above Braithwaite in the Lake District, looking (I believe) towards Keswick. And Ken, you're right, it was pretty early in the morning! Still, it was worth climbing the hill half-asleep just for the view alone. Mind you, given the temperature that morning, I wasn't half-asleep for long ... Smile

Love the layering. You almost feel like you're getting lost in a painting here. Great stuff.

Just stumbled on, and enjoyed, your Portfolio.
I think it is important to also say what I am least happy about in a pic, but in this one I can only echo peterkent and say I'd remove the top left light, and, for me, that very black frame is a little too sombre.
Will you be climbing that hill again on a bright morning when it is covered in snow?

We have places like this here in Kent, It is not easy taking pictures of this nature, mist can be very misleading and often the final shot on screen is nothing like you saw it! so I congratulate you on this one! for me it works and an apt title, regards Leon.GrinSadSmileTongueWink
