This one measures about 4 inches leg tip to antennae tip. He's very gentle and doesn't eat much, and has a very musical chirp. The lizards don't allow them to live long. When he gets disturbed his wings will flare and make a spectacular display of red against the black.
good details. we used to call these the "tobacco grasshopper" as they'd "spit" when disturbed.seems they come in a variety of colors.haven't seen them in this part of Florida though..used to see them in South Florida years ago.
