Rainbow over Ararat

By tarara
She built her big ugly house with her two hands as a shelter from hurricanes and nuclear attack during the cold war, large enough to shelter her neighbors, on a hill overlooking the river. Then she decorated it with all things rainbow. I named the place Ararat. One early afternoon a small cloud dropped its rain over her driveway and this rainbow appeared. I ran for my camera and, when I got back it was gone. As I stood there, it came back. This was taken from her bedroom window. No enhancements or additions, just as it came from the camera.

Great story and good capture of this rainbow effect. I see it a lot in lawn sprinklers too.

Lovely mini-rainbow. And an interesting decription to go with the image. Nice one.

Lawn sprinklers might be a rarity in parts of the UK this year! Never water my lawn anyway. It's like a coconut mat at present, but it always recovers!

I understand, John. We are having a severe drought here at the moment. This shot was before the drought. The lawns would look greener if we watered them, but now, it's a choice between a green lawn and a bath. Rainbows of any kind depend on the crystals hanging in the windows. yvonne

I love all rainbows, there is something magical about them. This is a lovely capture of one coming right down onto the garden, Yvonne, and it even appears to be going through the branches of the trees.

First word I though of was 'magic' but someone has already used that!

Good shot!

I guess chance really does favour the prepared mind!
