Paddy field

By tashi
Hello, Good Morning!
Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Today’s upload is a view of a growing township on the opposite hill. This place was once a forested area with lovely paddy fields. Now … what we see is a gradual growth of another town; maybe another concrete jungle in due course!
The forest is still fine but the paddy fields are slowly disappearing. What you see here are some small patches of paddy fields … yes, they are golden in colour … which indicates that the paddy is now ready for harvest.

Thanking you all for your lovely comments and votes on my last upload.
Rani

That's progress for you, Rani! Such a shame to see the wide open spaces disappear and be eaten up by houses/factories. Well captured. Carol

.......... and in some places it really seems to grow real fast ...!
Altitude is apprx. 5,480 ft (1780 m) above sea level.
The name of my hometown is Gangtok. It is the capital city of Sikkim and is located on a ridge at a height of almost 5500 feet in the North Eastern part of India in the lower Himalayas. Sikkim became a part of India in 1975 and it happens to be the second smallest state of India. Area is only 7,096 square kms.

Thank you and also thanks to all for your lovely comments n votes.
Best regards.

It's Ranka (East Sikkim)! Looking across from Gangtok one gets to see this view.
Yuksom and Pelling ... these are in West Sikkim.

Also, thanks to you and others who have seen/commented/voted on this upload.
Best regards.

It is a Catch 22 situation, the growing population needs more space but they will also need more food!!!
