Goo Goo Dolls 1

By Taya
This was taken at Shephers Bush Empire. The lighting was amazing, I never shot a gig in such bright lighting conditions. I was able to decrease my ISO 800 or even less. I was shooting at shutter speeds of 500secs and still over exposing! Hope I see more lighting like that!

The pit was so narrow, I almost got bashed in the face by John's Guitar. For the whole gig I was either chasing after him or dodging his guitar!

1/1250 sec f/2.8 @ ISO 1600

All C&Cs welcome. Apart from the one concerning his guitar being cut off, I'm so kicking myself over that :-(

Thank You,

This is fantastic, and I've heard so many bad things about this venue.

Not too bothered about the missing guitar edge, you got the important bits in.

The mic stand is a little in the way, but then you could hardly ask him to move it could you?

Erm... Excuse me Sir... your mic stand's in the way... Grin

Great work.

Thank you all for te kind comments Smile

Gary, I totally agree with you about the mic stand, but I still consider this to be my all-time best shot, probably because it's full of colour and it's sharp and clear, which makes a change! lol, didn't think of asking him to move the mic stand out of the way, perhaps I could move it myself nex time??!!!

Thanks Grin

Hi daz,

Thank you Smile I had a photo-pass, so was able to go in the pit. It sure is dangerous lol! As for the flash, It's the first time I've not needed flash, and I don't even own one, because we are never allowed to use flash :-( I don't really like it anyway, probably cos I don't know how to use it!

Thank you,

You're lucky to have such good lighting for that shot, really wouldn't be the same with any movement etc.
Great timing and exposure, yeah shame bout the guitar but no biggy.
Nice work!

You pulled this off really well Taya, cracking pic and great lighting. Found myself in the mosh pitts at small venues quite often. No at all worried about no flash, just all the sweat and beer flying around. Nice one.
