Wasps Nest

By Ted447
This nest was brought into Mere Sands Wood by a builder who found it while working on an old house it is about 24 inches high. I have seen the inside of a Wasps nest and it is very intricate inside made up of individual platforms about 2 inches apart all supported by a ring of pillars and it is all like paper mache very delicate.

It is really wonderful to see. BUT it brings back memories of two summers ago when I stepped barefooted on a wasp and had a very painful and itching foot for a week. I have often wondered what, in the scheme of things, wasps are useful for.

Goodness, that's pretty spectacular, but I'm not sure I'd continue to employ a builder who brought me presents like this!
