Inspired by Greyheron's superb work with his Panasonic Lumix GF1 plus Leica DG Macro 45mm f2.8 lens, and after having picked Mike's brains over the last couple of weeks, I took the plunge and bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 Micro Four Thirds camera from Park Cameras (near me and offering best deal at present, both online and off) plus the 45mm macro lens.

Experimented over the weekend and came up with my first upload with this kit - a grass snake (I think - would appreciate positive ID)) taking a dip in a small wetlands conservation area near Seaford, E. Sussex. I was probably about 6 feet away, teetering at the edge of the water holding the camera outstretched at arm's length. Fortunately it has a viewfinder, so it is possible to check focus before shooting, rather than rely on the live screen in bright sunshine.

Please view large if you have a moment

Settings: F/3.5 1/4000sec aperture priority -1EV ISO 100 handheld

Many thanks as always for the C&Cs on my Chickadee upload Smile

Cracking capture Sylvia of the Grass Snake. Impressive colour saturation and detail especially under the water. Certainly a different way to do Macro and one handed outstanding.
Look forward to seeing more closer results

An excellent shot, perhaps teetering, one handed is the way to go,saves lugging tripods about.

Stunning capture Sylvia. What a shot -- to not only find the snake but also catch it swimming. Spot on and the new camera sounds brilliant.

Super shot Sylvia and reminds me when my brother and I used to trapse around the countryside looking for these lovelies! Bred them and released them back to the wild. Ho Hum heady days....!! Lovely work!

Looks good! Quite a challenging exposure to test your new kit, but it seems spot-on.
