Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea)

By teocali
I was pleased to be able to get some shots of a Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) during my recent trip to Hamburg, via Utrecht, adding another well-known bird to my PF.
Best viewed large if you have a moment.
Settings:- F/4 1/1600sec, ISO400 300mm handheld manual

Thank you so much for your C&Cs on my Northern Cardinal - as always, these mean a great deal to me.

Great to see you're still shooting in manual Sylvia, tones and exposure are spot on retaining a lot of detail on Von heron.

I have a fondness for these particular birds Sylvia and this one is a cracker. I know they have some rather unpleasant habits but for all that its great to see them moving so majestically when they fly. You have managed to retain some lovely plumage detail on this one.

You wouldn't believe it but I saw one of these the other day in the middle of Leeds, on the river by the railway station! Of course, I was travelling light with only the 50mm lens with me and it was on the other side of the river so I've nothing worthwhile to show for it.
