Camouflaged Challenge

By teocali
Another from last Saturday - I loved the way this large Red Stag had camouflaged himself low down in the bracken and was roaring his challenge from his hidden position. I spent ages on this one, hoping for a glimpse of the eye, which I eventually managed to capture! This is full frame and uncropped.
Settings: F/5.6 1/250sec +0.33EV AV@500mm tripod
Best large if you have a moment.

Thank you for your continued support - really appreciated as always Smile

Wonderful shot Sylvia. I think this guy must be a bit of a coward-- he was making a fearsome noise as I recall, but made sure he stay well hidden !! Excellent capture.

Love this Sylvia, you know he could pass for an Alien looking like that, really well done,

I think this is all the more special for the camouflage, and of course the glimpse of the eye. Funny Geoff should mention an alien because I first of all thought it looked like the monster from the film Tremors!

This is excellent Sylvia, natural setting and a great behavioural capture. This fine Stag eventually rutted with the matriarc and lost.
Brilliant capture and detail with perfect natural saturation
