Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus)

By teocali
A near full frame capture of a wild male (Western) Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus), taken near Aviemore in the Cairngorms, Scotland, last March. I felt so privileged to see this magnificent bird in the wild, sadly nearing extinction and on the RSPB Endangered Species Red List.

Many thanks for your great response to my last upload, with special thanks to Isabel (Chinga) and Mike (Greyheron) for their User Awards - re Smileally appreciated and highly valued

Great image, beautiful bird. Until fairly recently, they could be seen a few miles away in the local glen, - sadly no more.
