Nesting Fulmar (Fulmarus glacialis)

By teocali
A nesting Fulmar (Fulmarus glacialis), taken on Staple Island, Farne Islands, at the beginning of June. These birds have a very strange and intricate beak formation. This particular bird had chosen to nest in the heart of a Puffin colony.

Many thanks for your support of my last upload - always very much appreciated Smile

Good shot and a good job you didn't get too close. They have a nasty habit of projectile vomiting the most foul smelling fishy mess if you too close

Well, it'll not get much peace and quiet there: not so often we see nesting bird's so your image is welcome from both that viewpoint as well as from the expertise with which it has been captured.

Super image Sylvia - showing the the strong bill perfectly. Looks to be right outside a Puffins hole.

Excellent detail, and obviously not a bird you would want to get too close to!
