Marsh Fritillary

By NigelKiteley
Thank you to everyone who voted and commented on yesterday's Small Skipper and especially to Alan_Baseley and pudd64 for their UA's, all are greatly appreciated.

I've been clearing space on an external hard drive in preparation for spring and the return of the butterflies and i've found a few images that i haven't uploaded from my Spanish trips in 2011. This is one such image, a Marsh Fritillary resting on lavender.

Perfection for me, Nigel. Sweet light, glorious wing patterning and colours, super perch detail and textures and bg tones to die for.

A fantastic close up Nigel, the detail, colours and composition are all first class. You must have some wonderful images in your archives as this one has remained lurking on your hard drive for so longSmile
