At the saloon

By tepot
I want to try out portraiture and since as of now i don't have a model i volunteered myself, in fact i have mislaid my lens i wanted to use for my Canon 5D and so dug out my old Nikon D70s and threw my Tamron 90 on it, i must say i am totally smitten again with Nikon and am now planning on a new body for my lens collection (probably D90).

Anyway this is my first attempt and i'm getting hooked, maybe i need to put some bowens lights on Santa's list for this yearTongue

This is a simple just sitting at an angle in front of the camera with flash in the hotshoe and the camera set to 10 sec self timer.

Terry.

Not bad for a first attempt Terry.
Before jumping in with the studio lights, you can get some great results by firing your speedlight into a relective umbrella.
All you need is the following to create a big light source, off-camera:
Umbrella
Umbrella adaptor
Cheap studio stand
Radio trigger/receiver set

Have a read about classic studio light set-ups too, as this will help you to get well lit portraits.
