Sunset Bunting

By TerryMcK
I appreciate your interest in my last feature, "GSW Poser."

One of the attractions at my local nature reserve is the variety of natural backgrounds available to photographers - water, woodland, grassy mounds, scrub, clay banks, reed beds. Wait for the sun to be in the right position from behind, select a background & be patient while a bird settles on a suitable perch. When all the elements come together, the result is a pleasing picture - such as this male Reed Bunting making the most of this afternoon's setting sun. The background is a distant, sun-washed grassy mound; the bird is in the shade of nearby trees.
Large version is worth your time...

V2: the same photograph with an alternative crop.

V1 for me, the context works and V2 is beginning to lose it's apparent sharpness because the crop is just too severe.
