Not that it really matters but the date taken on this photo is incorrect....was taken about three weeks ago!

  • a little bit more

From one extreme to the other Mick! Not one iota of unrusty surface to be seen.

  • lazy Sunday afternoon

Nicely observed Mick with an interesting entanglement of curves and contrast of colours.

Very whimsical smile on that rusty face Mick. Only you could find a safe like that!

  • Derek

    Thanks all for comments.
Catherine I should probably have said that this was a spontaneous photo and therefore the lighting is not ideal. The light source was late afternoon sun. Thanks for your advice, which I will take on board the next time I'm snapping a candid. Your mod has a lovely warm light which certainly suits Derek's character.
As for rust Mick, I think is a bit of a rusty character, does that qualify?

  • Your landscapes, seascapes, skyscapes and sunset/risescapes are superb. Also like your forays into experimentation and especially your candid street photography.

  • Just had a quick look at your pf and love your tree studies and macro images. Especially like the way you you photograph flowers from unusual angles or partial views.
  • Having just journeyed through your portfolio I have to say it is full of stunning images. I love the angles / point of view employed and what you leave out enhances your photos as much as what is taken. Awesome skies as well.
  • Just spent quite some time going through your pf and found it really inspiring. Your architectural images are really strong and well composed. Love you ability to capture your images at such unusual angles and your abstracts.
  • Just had a look at your pf and realise I've commented on a few of your images. Really love your work especially your later stuff with shadows, silhouettes and street scenes. Love your way of seeing and your composition style. Now that I've cemented your name in my mind I'll keep an eye out for you. (would be easier to get an e2 membership and use the favourites application than try to rely on my unreliable memory!!!)
  • Hi Jennn,It was really lovely of you to take the time to have a look at my pf. So I have now done the same and taken a squizz at yours. I find this is a great way to learn about what other people are doing (there's so many amazing photographers that I only get to look at a very small percentage). Really love your work, particularly the butterflies. I can't imagine how much patience it must take to get these shots. You certainly have got some beautiful insects in your part of the world. I notice you have been to Portugal recently. It's a place I would love to visit. What did you think of it?

  • Interesting pf, you've obviously got a good eye, like the way you compose your photos and your eclectic choice of subjects. particularly like yawn, squire and farm sunrise (where was this taken?, initially thought it was an aussie landscape)
  • I love your photos, you have a real talent for capturing the people around you going about their daily tasks and then every now and then you throw in a beautiful window or something rusty. I'll be visiting often
  • Mike I've just spent a delightfully inspired morning looking through your portfolio. You have an excellent eye for angles, detail and composition all washed down with a great sense of humour.Love all the rust, hinges, locks, nuts and bolts!

  • Hi Goggz, Just had a look right through your PF. I was drawn to it from seeing a shot of a dead rose in the members gallery. I recently uploaded one myself so had to check yours out. It took a lot of finding but in the process got to see all your wonderful images. It was quite a journey and very enjoyable
