A really nice shot Phil, love the atmosphere.

Its a great candidate for mono as it have very little colour, and it can benefirt with some more contrats at the same time. There is a black vertical strip at the left, which is a tree, and I would crop this off as it looks so much like a border.

Ive loaded 2 mods, - first is a mono, with the left cropped a little, a curves adjustment to increase contrast (blacker blacks and a tad brighter), and Ive sharpened a little; mod 2 is a different crop, with a little pace removed from the top, and its slightly wider for balance. I did this by increasing the width by 50 pixels while constrain properties was turned off in PS, so it maintains the original height, and stretched it 50 pix wider.

Hope you find this helpful,

Regards

Thanks very much willie,

Did not even cross my mind to make this a mono. I like the first mod that you have uploaded best and will give this a go.

I have not been given any bad advice on this site and i always wonder what i am going to learn every time i come on it.

Thanks again,

All the best.

Hello, Phil. As a beginner, you have produced an extremely atmospheric image here, certainly one that I would be proud of, and I lived in the New Forest for 12 years, so had ample opportunity to produce something like this. The image is all about the tall trees and the early morning mist, so I felt I would do a modification with the bottom part cropped off. I also cropped a little from both sides, feeling that the closer and darker trees were on the right, and that this would emphasize them more. I like the feeling of depth that you have achieved as the trees fade into the background mist. I, too, converted to mono, although this wasn't really necessary without the bottom bit, then simply adjusted levels for a bit more contrast.
