Crystal orb and Christmas lights

By Tianshi_angie
Experimenting with the orb and the lights which will continue (not much else to photograph in these 4 walls - creativity is slowing dying!)
Whilst not looking for actual critique I would appreciate thoughts/ideas as I have no intention of taking the tree down whilst covid prevents visitors. It is too heavy for me to put away!

Lovey result - try some flowers in front of the orb for a variation.
Gorgeous bokeh.

Really like this, for some reason would like to see a blue version and how the same detail is displayed. Very good idea here, more images soon please 🙂

Treat yourself to a box of Roses Chocolates and use the wrappers as filters, a great deal of fun, or, better still, get someone else to buy you the choccies Grin.
This is a good image, super tree reflection in the Orb.
Keep safe and well,

Thank you everyone for your kind comments and some interesting ideas. I think the Choccies will have to be someone else's as (strangely!) don't love Roses Choccies!

Brighter may look better. Tried it in a mod, added sharpening to the tree reflection and some light spots o the orbs

I love this idea!
It's about light and what light does, so it needs to be brighter. And as the background has no identifiable orientation, why not flip to have the reflection the right way up, and apparently hanging, as though from another tree.
I've uploaded two modifications - the first one flipped, with added brightness, a Levels tweak and then some dodging to further boost highlights. Then a tighter crop, with fairly extreme cyanotype toning - for the Night before Christmas...

I actually did try the flip myself Moira but the table in front is in a terrible mess - so brighter and right way up reveals the complete mess the sitting room is in!!! Willie - darker was trying to hide stuff!! I'm afraid that bad backs, a dog who has dementia and christmas do not leave a great deal of time for tidying. But when I have restored order I will certainly experiment more. Thank you both for the thoughts and I do take them on board.

I really wouldn't worry about the mess on the table, it's nothing compared with what is in front of me as I type! Wink Blush

Well that made me laugh and feel a lot better - thank you!

Nobody sees the mess when they are attracted by bright lights!!

Thank you Willie - I think that is true ..... for everyone but me!

You should see the chaos in our house - even in the parts that Janet controls, there can be the odd heap of something or other...

I like the inversion, too. Aperture priority and maximum aperture will give even blobbier lights...

You are all making me feel a great deal less obsessed with the mess that surrounds me - so thank you for that.

John I will try other versions as soon as I get my head above water here!. (Which is possible - bar more problems - today). I actually love experimenting with this kind of effect. Some playing with distances between tree, orb and camera also.
