  • I live in Durban, been here most my life. Scenic place you stay in, been there several times. Very jealous. Look forward to seeing some of your images.

    Bruce.
  • Great to see another South African on the site, I am sure you will enjoy your stay. Where abouts in SA Anton?

  • A friend of mine who I shoot with regulary has just purchased a 7D. I must admit it, it is also a fantastic camera. If my interests in photography had nothing to do with landscapes, I would be shooting with a 7D myself. If any of you are interested, here is the view from my house in Durban of the Soccer Stadium. My very first image with the 5D Smile Cropped slightly. I can't get over the detail at 100%.

  • Really loving the 5D Mark II. An amazing piece of kit. Managed to sell my 10-22mm, and will be collecting a 17-40mm tomorrow. It's second hand but I'm assured it's in excellent condition.

    Cannot Wait !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just placed my order for the Canon 5D Mk II + EF 24-105mm L IS Kit. Once I can sell my 10-22mm EF-S Lens, I will definitely pick up a 17-40L lens. Really look forward to it. Can't wait to start posting here again. Best renew my e2 subscription Smile
  • Thanks for the feedback guys.

How you doing Paul? I've been lurking this site for many years now Smile I will be back real soon, and will be posting frequently.

I should be able to flog my 10-22m, which will definitely help towards the 17-40L.
  • Hey all, it's been a while since posting on these forums. Hoping I can get some advice.

I currently shoot with a Canon 30D, 90% of the time I shoot Landscapes so my main lens is a 10-22mm EF-S Lens, the rest of my lenses are EF lenses.

I now have the oppurtunity to purchase a new camera body and originally had my heart set on the 5d MK II, but after reading lots of reviews, comparisons between the 7D. I have now confused myself. On paper the 7D has a lot of features the 5D doesn't, and I wouldn't need to purchase a new Wide Angle lens etc.

It just makes more sense to go for the 7D. Is there really a huge difference in image quality etc. Would the 7D be suitable for Landscape Photography?

Please can someone give me some much needed advice.

    Thanks in advance.
    Bruce.
  • This is my concern, I am about to purchase a 5D MK II, before I come to Europe in November for a 1 month holiday. Last thing I want to see is a new body on the market replacing the 5D MK II.
  • I want to follow Bear Grylls on one of his insane journeys as his personal photographer... Pete can you fix that Smile
  • Congrats Jon.
  • 36-0 ?

Wow, now that's a hiding if I ever saw one...
  • Site seems to be down at the moment, or extremely busy. Looks interesting... will keep trying.

  • Image was actually captured with a EF 85mm f1.8, still a good lens I'd say...

    Bruce.
  • What version of the EF 85mm Lens is it? Can't tell if it's the L version.

  • Lol CB, time for a new PC it seems !!! Smile
    Bruce.
  • So if you were in my position you would hold off?
  • Wow, this thread has grown. Nothing like a good laugh !!!

Thanks to all who have commented.

I read a forum posting on another thread from Andy (andytvcams) saying to hold off until September this year? Any particualr reasons Andy? You know something we don't Smile I'm one of those impatient people, that always purchase something just before the price drops or a newer model is released.

    Thanks again.
    Bruce.
  • Lol, that's pushing it a bit Smile

CB, I think you're right. Maybe I should dive into the pool so to speak. I already have a buyer for my EF-S 10-22mm, so it makes the transition a lot easier. I will definitely let you know.

    Thanks again all.
    Bruce.
  • Thanks again for the feedback guys. I only have a couple days left to make the decision. She's due back on the 1st May.

    Bruce.
  • Will look into it !!!
  • Hi guys, my sister will be returning from the UK in the next couple of weeks, and it will be a lot cheaper if she brings one back, then purchasing it here in South Africa. The 5D body is about 1500 pounds from the EPZ store/ Warehouse Express, any ideas where I could get a better deal? I would probably be purchasing it online.

My second query is, do you think it's worth it? Or should I hang on 'til next year, for a possible 5D replacement?

    Thanks in advance.
    Bruce.
