Wedding Night

By tigertimb
Apologies for the pun - couldn't resist Wink
Back to a few wedding shots, although this image took a bit of an unexpected journey. I started with #4 which I liked for their interaction but felt was a bit cluttered. So decided to blur the background, carefully cut it out with a mask and ended up with #3. I then wondered what it would look like with a completely black background which prompted this idea to dig out a shot from the spring with the moon to work with the telescope - colour version in #2.
I liked the result, but I guess as a wedding shot, it's probably not for a traditional album Smile

All comments very welcome and thankyou to everyone for your comments on the sunset.

Tim Smile

(if you check the map you'll see the hotel didn't exist when google took the image!!)

I prefer No.3 with slightly less blur than it is now.

This will get you worried. I will start. lol

No 1 is very nice, but No 2 for me is a warmer feel to it with the people being in colour, I think this works and is very well done, thought of says looking to the future. So great work from me.

No3 is a lot better than 4 but they a tad busy for me. But the bride and groom will love No 1 & 2.

Just out of interest and I know it is part of the picture, but would it be better if you removed his button hole as it catches the eye.

Although V3 is a busy shot it looks the most natural keeping the couple as the focal point so its V3 for me good work on the others too.
Is this shot at the Cotswold water park? It looks familier I stayed there in the summer and the hotel is positioned so the moorning sun rises over the lake its the first thing you see when you wake up love it.

It is indeed Stu - the Three Pillars Hotel, although if you check the map reference you'll see it hadn't even been built at the time.
It made a great location for the wedding reception, but sadly due to the railing all the way round the decking, we had to go next door to get some shots by the lake.

All lovely romantic images but V3 is my favourite as I feel the telescope makes more sense when you can see it in situ, but V4 is just too busy.

I'm glad I reached here after the addition of V5 & V6 - just a tiny, subtle change but it makes a big difference.
I favour the mono V5, because it concentrates on the story and the composition. In colour the dress and the stalks of the bouquet are a bit more prominant.
Love the idea - looking to the future together.

Hard to choose really; I think V5 or V6 (no preference for mono over colour this time). A good, original concept and a very discreet double entendre with the title.

This is very romantic - V5 for me. I think the idea is brilliant and creates a much more interesting and romantic settings to the image. You've captured them superbly and the moon and mono just add to that fantastic intimate atmosphere.
I think they would love to have it in their album, well done!

Hi Tim. V6 has my vote. I think I've said before I prefer the people in colour to mono. Great bit of PS work to get to this but the best thing about it is the fact the image doesn't suggest it's a photo. There's no feeling of someone standing next to them with a camera and to me that's the secret of good wedding photography.

V6 has to be the winner, somehow the colour adds more romance to the image. I think it's a shame that her bouquet is out of frame, and that we just see the stalks of the flowers.

For a moment I thought you'd got your hands on the new 5DmkII with it's high iso capabilitites. Great bit of manipulation. As you say, probably not for the album but a great idea anyway.
Martin.
